Privacy policy
Privacy policy for the mobile game Křížovky (Android, cz.vymak.krizovky).
This is a translation. The Czech version is binding.

What the app does with your data
Křížovky works without the internet. Your progress, stars, lives, settings and games in progress stay on your device only. If Android backup is turned on, Google stores them in your Google account; you control that in your phone’s settings. The app contains no analytics and requires no sign-up. It goes online in three cases only, and only when you ask it to: when you request an ad for a life, when you vote in the poll and when you turn on Google Play Games in Settings.
An ad for a life
When you run out of lives, you can refill one by watching a short ad. Ads never show up on their own, only after you tap “Life for an ad”.
- Who shows the ads: Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited) as an independent controller. Google Privacy Policy, how Google uses information from partner apps.
- Consent: before the first ad the app (in the EU and EEA) asks for consent to personalised ads through a Google form. Without consent Google shows only limited, non-personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad consent.
- What Google processes: the device’s advertising ID (you can reset or turn it off in Android settings), the IP address and an approximate location derived from it, device and app information, interactions with the ad and diagnostics. The app itself passes nothing about your game progress to Google.
- Transfer is encrypted (HTTPS).
Poll on new topics
The poll on which crossword topics to add is voluntary and only available in the Czech version of the app. Data is sent only when you submit your vote.
- What is stored: the chosen topics, the time of voting and a random identifier of the app installation. The app creates the identifier itself; it is not linked to your name, e-mail, Google account or any device identifier.
- Why: so that we know which topics to prepare. Only the author sees the results, as totals. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in developing the app, and voting is voluntary.
- Who processes the data: the Google Firebase service (Cloud Firestore and App Check, Google Ireland Limited) as a processor. The data is stored in data centres in the EU. When connecting, the service sees the device’s IP address. App Check uses Google Play Integrity to verify that the vote comes from the genuine app from Google Play.
- How long: until the end of the poll, at most 2 years. Then the votes are deleted.
- Transfer is encrypted (HTTPS).
Google Play Games
Achievements and the longest daily-puzzle streak leaderboard live in the Google Play Games service. The feature is off until you turn it on in Settings → Google Play Games.
- What is sent: once turned on, the app signs in to your Google Play Games profile and sends the achievements you have earned (e.g. the number of solved crosswords) and your longest daily-puzzle streak. No other data about your progress (answers, times, lives) is sent.
- Who processes the data: Google (Google Ireland Limited) as an independent controller under its policy. Depending on your profile settings, other players can see your gamer profile (nickname, avatar) and leaderboard results. While you use the service, Google also processes device and diagnostic data.
- Turning it off: in Settings the app stops sending data. You manage the account link and earned achievements in the Google Play Games app or at myaccount.google.com.
- Transfer is encrypted (HTTPS).
Your rights
You can change or delete your vote at any time right in the poll, and change your ad consent in Settings. You exercise your rights regarding data Google processes for ads with Google (myaccount.google.com, policies.google.com/privacy). You have the right of access, rectification and erasure, the right to object and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in the Czech Republic the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), or the authority in your country. Please send questions to info@vymak.cz.
E-mails
When you report a mistake in a clue or suggest a topic, the app opens your e-mail app with a prepared text. You decide whether and what you send. We use the e-mail only to reply and to fix the crosswords.
This website
The website krizovky.vymak.cz uses no cookies and no analytics and loads nothing from other domains. The server keeps ordinary access logs (IP address, time and address of the request) for operation and security only.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes
We will publish changes to this policy on this page and in the app’s description.
